THE BENEFITS SEEMS ENDLESS: CELEBRATING SOUTH KOREAN CULTURE

A high level delegation from South Korea, Tajik governments, young children and ethnic Koreans had the chance to discover their creative talents during a special event in Kurgan-Tube City on May 29, 2014.

Mr. Yo Cho Gu, Head of Mission of South Korean Embassy in Tajikistan was accompanied by Mr. Gulmahmadov Kurbonali, Head of Khatlon Region, Mr. Kurbonzoda Honali, Head of Education Department of Khatlon Region, Mr. Barotov Faizali, Deputy of Khatlon Region and Saidonov Ibrogim, Save the Children Project Engineer.

The first ever South Korean Culture Festival was set up by children and ethnic Koreans in a school constructed by Save the Children in 2012, (funded by Save the Children Korea and Kurgan-Tube local officials) and included music, preparing and sharing ethnic food with the guests and students in each classroom, aerial dance and developing a piece of art.

We all aim to raise children’s education attainment in Khatlon Region said in his speech Mr. Gulmahmadov Kurbonali, Head of Khatlon Region.

In January 2014, Save the Children Korea, Save the Children in Tajikistan and Kurgan-Tube City authorities began constructing a dormitory for 40 ethnic Koreans’ children living in rural area of Khatlon province.

The purpose of this project is to build a dormitory for girls and boys so they can continue their education in the school that was built in 2012 by Save the Children Korea, Save the Children in Tajikistan and Kurgan-Tube City authorities.
