“I believe that ECD teacher’s manual has to be every teacher’s handbook.

It is written in easy to understand language so that even the beginner ECD educators can comprehend”

Kyrgyzstan’s Early Childhood Development (ECD) project published 11500 copies of the manual for ECD teachers. This methodological handbook is not only for ECD educators, but also for teacher trainers, heads of preschool educational institutions, district and regional education department personnel, Kyrgyz Academy of Education specialists, national in-service Teacher Training Institutes' trainers, teaching centers, NGOs, and international organizations, as well as university students, parents, community, and for all interested parties who are not indifferent to the issues and concerns of infants and preschool children.

It has been disseminated to ECD teachers directly, during on-going methodological trainings (September – November 2014) organized by Save the Children, and through Ministry of Education and Science throughout Kyrgyzstan public ECD centers, district education departments (DEDs), and in service Teacher Training Institutes.

The manual was developed on the basis of the results of the Baseline Survey conducted by Save the Children in beginning 2014, and includes the needs and concerns of leaders, educators, and ECD center teachers, in service Teacher Training institutes (ITTIs), and district and regional education department specialists. It is available in Kyrgyz and Russian languages.

ECD Teacher’s Module is oriented to child centered teaching: knowledge is introduced to the child not as a ready material, but through independent learning process of the child or interactions including “child-child”, “teacher-child”, ”and “child-teacher “.

Save the Children, with support from Save the Children Korea, has been implementing "Early Childhood Development” project in Kyrgyzstan since January 2014. The goal of the project is to improve access to quality early childhood education by developing the Early Childhood development Center (ECD) and supporting preschool education reforms in Kyrgyzstan.
