MEETING WITH USAID’S REPRESENTATIVES

USAID/Washington representatives recently met with SCI Kurgan-Tube team implementing health, hygiene and sanitation, safe drinking water, food security and income generation projects in Khatlon Region of Tajikistan. During the meeting the participants also discussed the situation on irrigation and safe drinking water systems and Water Users Associations. USAID Science Adviser Sarah Tully and Water Resources Specialist Trey Flowers met with women’s groups where women exchanged ideas about the Women’s Wealth and Influence project that aims to improve women’s empowerment and well-being. The members also talked about the problem solving and decision making approaches they use. At the end, the women’s groups invited the guests to join in celebrating their group’s 2nd anniversary this summer. USAID Water Resources Specialist Trey Flowers said that the meeting was very productive and that they were impressed by the unity and the participation and thanked the women for their time and the warm welcoming.
