CEREMONIAL WAVE OF OPENING NEW HEALTH FACILITIES SHOOK KARATOGH JAMOAT

Wednesday 16 November 2016

Save the Children International (SCI) in Tajikistan admits that MCH, funded by the SC Korea, is among the most influential projects triggering desire and enthusiasm of communities into capacity building, into doing their utmost for local well-being and development. Only in 2016 due to this project, 30 target communities in Tursunzoda district either solidly refurbished their Health Facilities or constructed from the foundation.

Karatogh Jamoat comprises of 7 villages where the local communities built health houses in 4 and upgraded in 3 villages. On the 2nd and 3rd  November ‘16 Karatogh people experienced joyous and unforgettable moments successfully opening Health Houses in Norobod, Nalbek and Shurkhok villages.

1.  In Norobod village, the community did not have Health House until SCI moral (training on proposal writing) and material (timbers, furniture) supports ignited sparkle of self-activation and self-confidence in their hearts that resulted in building a brand new three-room Health House there. Opening celebration held on November 2nd, 2016. The rural women and children who used to pass 6 km bad road to reach health worker were extremely glad and sincerely rejoiced during the opening celebration.

2.   Nalbek village with a population numbering around 150 person located on hills. SCI provided the community only with equipment and furniture. Head of VDC (Village Development Committee) Mr. Akhmedov Haimurod, an educated reliable man and a self-starter by nature, was able to mobilize the local people to purchase construction materials and built the health house from zero. The only health worker in the village – Ms. Rabikhova Rohila got her job based in their own village and enabled to serve her neighboring women and children easily in a cozy and relevant work place now. As for celebration, all villagers and in particular women and schoolchildren indeed enjoyed the ceremony. This is how children dressed up for the event.

3.  The third one is Shurkhok, the most remote village located on highlands surrounded by mountains. The community received partially construction materials, equipment and furniture. Despite the fact that the Health House consists of 7 rooms and a big corridor, the active Community Leaders could properly finalize the refurbishment on time making their priceless contribution. SCI Central Asia Deputy Director, Ms. Faroghat Mirzoeva and Health Program Manager, Ms. Lola Sattori visited the opening ceremony on November 3, 2016. Head of Tursunzoda PHC, Ms. Tagaeva Fakhriya, representatives from District Hukumat (Government), Deputy Head of Jamoat, representatives from Tajik TV channel “Safina” and a number of other official attended the event. There was special program comprising sweet poems, dances, singing songs, roleplays on disease prevention, exclusive breastfeeding and birth planning with a drawing competition summarized at the end. Hundreds of local people gathered to welcome the high-ranking guests and all benefited from key health messages during the event. The guests made sparkling speeches and series of gratitude expressed for SCI in Tajikistan.
