New project launched in Varzob and Vahdat

In March, Save the Children International launched a new Maternal and Child Health project in Varzob and Vahdat districts, Tajikistan.

Within the framework of the project, Village health centers of Varzob and Vahdat districts will be equipped. The main goal of the project is to reduce child and maternal mortality and morbidity in rural and remote areas of Tajikistan, targeting children under the age of five in particular, by improving the quality of Health services at the level of primary health care.

Save the Children International (SCI) in Tajikistan admits that MCH, funded by the SC Korea, is among the most influential projects triggering desire and enthusiasm of communities into capacity building, into doing their utmost for local well-being and development. Only in 2016 due to this project, 30 target communities in Tursunzoda district either solidly refurbished their Health Facilities or constructed from the foundation.

Breastfeeding Week celebration in Tursunzoda, Tajikistan

The exhilarating “Breastfeeding Day Jubilee” was held at the Center of Tursunzoda district, the Republic of Tajikistan in celebration of international breastfeeding week. The close collaboration between local authorities and the Maternal and Child Health Project, funded by Save the Children Korea, contributed to the event’s success. Breastfeeding practices, simulating real Tajik daily life, were demonstrated by women (30) and children (10) through informative role-play, song, drawing and dance.
