DIPECHO – Save the Children conducted Capacity Building activities for target communities and schools

  

Dushanbe – Save the Children Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction project conducted various capacity building activities for the schoolchildren and adults – members of community level and school based Emergency Preparedness Teams in 15 villages of Vahdat and Varzob districts.

DIPECHO – Save the Children has launched new Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction program in Tajikistan

Dushanbe – Save the Children is launching a new 18-month project with the European Commission's Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection department (ECHO) on “Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction as a Way to Resilience” program to be implemented in Tajikistan.

Kyrgyz village installs mudflow protection walls to mitigate effects of rainy season

In southwestern Kyrgyzstan on the border with Uzbekistan, Dostuk village in Suzak district is a multi-ethnic community of nearly 2,000 people. Over the past five years, this village has experienced severe mudflows during heavy rains. To address these risks, Save the Children has been implementing the European Union funded Disaster Preparedness Programme (DIPECHO) VIII project: “Increasing Resilience of Institutions, Communities and Most Vulnerable Groups to Natural Disasters in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.”

Student-led disaster risk reduction simulation improving school, community safety

On any given day after the morning assembly students will proceed to their normal lessons at School #6 in Zimchurud Village of Varzob District, Tajikistan. On May 7, 2015, students at this school had new material to learn: Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).
