Breastfeeding Week celebration in Tursunzoda, Tajikistan

The exhilarating “Breastfeeding Day Jubilee” was held at the Center of Tursunzoda district, the Republic of Tajikistan in celebration of international breastfeeding week. The close collaboration between local authorities and the Maternal and Child Health Project, funded by Save the Children Korea, contributed to the event’s success. Breastfeeding practices, simulating real Tajik daily life, were demonstrated by women (30) and children (10) through informative role-play, song, drawing and dance.

Women’s actions prevent domestic violence and create harmonious family environments in Rudaki District

 
Family counselling, provided by four Rudaki District women’s groups “Sharifmo”, “Ganjina”, “Robiya” and “Hamsado” have prevented 14 divorces and reduced the occurrence of domestic violence.

Rural women create employment opportunities in Vose District

In a peer-to-peer collaborative effort, two women groups 'Rizo' and 'Sharifjon', based in the Vose district, have established sewing workshops, providing employment for 12 women in their communities.
Together, they pooled their savings and established an initial starter fund. Following a process of shared brainstorming, the women  determined that founding a sewing workshop, as an income-generating opportunity, would be the fund's most efficient and effective method of improving their economic situation.

Women’s groups build partnership towards prosperity

 

Save the Children’s Women’s Wealth and Influence (WWI) Project funded by Department for International Development (DFID) a held Women’s Leadership Forum on May 27, 2016 in Rudaki District in order to build support networks within women’s groups themselves and strengthen the partnership rural women have built with local governments on sub-district and district level.

Women’s Wealth and Influence Project Women continued exchange experience to improve their livelihood and economical status

Department for International Development (DFID) extended the funding of Save the Children’s Women’s Wealth and Influence Project for 2016 in 17 districts of Tajikistan and the project continued its women empowerment activities.
