Women's groups in Tajikistan organize and celebrate "Watermelon Day"

Qumsangir District, July 21, 2015 - Save the Children International DFID funded Women’s Wealth and Influence (WW&I) Project organized the Watermelon Day for Women’s Groups in Qumsangir district, jamoat Panj, village Pakhtakor. The event was arranged in the framework of the project cross visits in order to create a platform for more successful and newly established groups to exchange experiences and share ideas.

Save the Children Women's Wealth & Influence project staff conducts trainings on the prevention of violent extremism and radicalization leading to terrorism

June 26, 2015 Baljuvon district- Save the Children’s DFID funded Women’s Wealth and Influence (WW&I) Project staff conducted a half day training on “Parents against Radicalization” in the framework of OSCE’s “Violent Extremism and Radicalization Leading to Terrorism” Project in Baljuvon district. Representatives of WW&I Project women’s groups, as well as district authority representatives, the head of education and the head of labor and migration departments, took part in the training.

“I Am a Reader” competition showcases student enthusiasm for education in Tajikistan

On Thursday, June 4, the USAID Quality Reading Project’s Umeda Ermatova stood before an eager, uniformed second-grade classroom in the city of Kulob in southern Tajikistan, preparing to proctor a reading exam. When she asked what work the students had done over the course of the past academic year, small hands shot into the air.

“I wrote a story based on a picture of a lake,” one boy proudly reported. A girl on the other side of the room piped up, “I memorized a poem about a village family.”

Student-led disaster risk reduction simulation improving school, community safety

On any given day after the morning assembly students will proceed to their normal lessons at School #6 in Zimchurud Village of Varzob District, Tajikistan. On May 7, 2015, students at this school had new material to learn: Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).
