Save the Children Women's Wealth & Influence project staff conducts trainings on the prevention of violent extremism and radicalization leading to terrorism

June 26, 2015 Baljuvon district- Save the Children’s DFID funded Women’s Wealth and Influence (WW&I) Project staff conducted a half day training on “Parents against Radicalization” in the framework of OSCE’s “Violent Extremism and Radicalization Leading to Terrorism” Project in Baljuvon district. Representatives of WW&I Project women’s groups, as well as district authority representatives, the head of education and the head of labor and migration departments, took part in the training.

“I Am a Reader” competition showcases student enthusiasm for education in Tajikistan

On Thursday, June 4, the USAID Quality Reading Project’s Umeda Ermatova stood before an eager, uniformed second-grade classroom in the city of Kulob in southern Tajikistan, preparing to proctor a reading exam. When she asked what work the students had done over the course of the past academic year, small hands shot into the air.

“I wrote a story based on a picture of a lake,” one boy proudly reported. A girl on the other side of the room piped up, “I memorized a poem about a village family.”

Save the Children in Central Asia Celebrates International Child Protection Day

With over 20 years working experience in Central Asia, Save the Children has a long history of promoting the protection and rights of children regionally. As the International Day for Protection of Children, June 1 is a landmark day for the celebration of children across the world. Save the Children in Central Asia commemorated the day through a variety of activities in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

Promoting inclusive education, Kyrgyz social worker learns and teaches new methodology

As a 13-year social worker for a secondary school in Kyrgyzstan, Janulai Sulaimanova has faced many challenges in promoting inclusive education. The Ak-Suu secondary school in Moskovskii district, Chui region, Kyrgyzstan, is located in a semi-urban area featured by high levels of both internal and external migration, and hosts a mix of ethnically and linguistically diverse people. This diversity at times poses difficulty for Sulaimanova’s work.
